Policy and Legislative Affairs

Policy Officer, Sylvia Anderson, Esq.

The Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs is responsible for developing, drafting, reviewing, editing, coordinating and implementing the policies, standards, and operational procedures that govern the day-to day operations of the agency as it relates to the agency’s functions. This office is responsible for convening and chairing the department’s Executive Policy Committee.  This office ensures that all policies of the department are in compliance with all federal, and district laws, as well as court orders which affect the internal and external operations relating to the agency. This office coordinates, reviews, disseminates, develops and edits all training modules related to the various polices and procedures, as well as providing annual reviews of the agency’s policies and operational procedures to ensure that the agency’s programmatic and operational needs are being met.
     
The office is also responsible for coordinating all council and legislative activities that impact the department.  The office ensures that the department is informed of all upcoming hearings and establishes positive working relationships with the council and all other legislative bodies.
