  • QUALITY ASSURANCE & FEDERAL COMPLIANCE SECTION

The Office of Quality Assurance and Federal Compliance coordinate the Independent Living Program and the Independent Living Services for Older Individuals who are Blind Program.  The Office monitors vendors/contractors who provide vocational rehabilitation services to clients. Additionally, this office coordinates the POWER program which provides vocational rehabilitation services to TANF recipients with disabilities in partnership with the Income Maintenance Administration (IMA). Requisite services as required by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, are also provided by this office through the preparation of State Plans, program instructions and guidelines, monitoring compliance with federal and District laws and regulations and conducting quality assurance reviews of programs and services.

The function of the medical unit is to assist the rehabilitation Counselor in determining  eligibility and preprocessing plans for employment that incorporate  the informed choice of there seeking VR Services, as well the incorporation as medical evidence and assessments into the prescribed plans for employment.
